| Show phosphate plant huge operation in morgan county hy by DAISY CROUCH at the invitation of ford wray and sin sam carrol carroi president and vice president t of the utah phosphate co I 1 visited the plant wednesday morning and was personally conducted through the huge warehouse ih IOU th the e w well ell equipped laboratory housend send and the ope operations rations room I 1 had a close view of the mountain on which five dump trucks were working as busy as ants climbing the steep grade unloaded and returning laden with overburden which is dirt chov els trucks and bulldozers are working at top speed on the mountainside ta stripping this valuable product of which there is is an unlimited supply dump trucks unload their cargo at a crushing machine and from there the pulverized raw material is carried across the weber river in a steel conveyor feet long to the mill where it is to be treated before being sacked and placed in the huge warehouse the dimensions of which are lullu feet the work has been greatly retarded because fo the wet weather and the late spring As soon as the units for the treating process arrive the work of shipping will commence and full operations are expected to begin in about SO 30 days the plant went under construction on sept 25 2 i 1917 1947 and at present there are 16 on the pay roll when the plant is in full operation it is expected that the pay roll will be increased to 75 the full capacity of the plant is COO tons in 24 hour day the mill is conveniently situated close to the highway and about COO feet from the union pacific railroad so far has been spent on this project and before the plant is completed it will cost approximately the plant is run by electricity and also has water and gas facilities the personnel of the utah phosphate co is as follows ford C wray president sam carrol vice president larry nelson secretary t treasurer measurer rea surer and charles hines otto sones ernest henefer and alfred directors |
