Show large crowd gathers to see SUP caravan in henefer A large crowd assembled at henefer tuesday morning early to witness the arrival of the sons of the utah pioneers who have re enacted the trek made by the company of pioneers who entered the salt lake valley july 21 24 1847 1947 the caravan of 73 75 covered wagon be decked cars began their trek in nauvoo illinois and have followed the same route as the pioneers incidents experienced by the pioneers have been par brayed by the trek and color has been added to their travel by residents of towns along the way in laramie they w were ere c completely surrounded by natives dressed like indians but were shot at with cameras instead of fire arms As in the origins original 1 company comp a ny there were men th three ee women men and two children in the cara caravan van all were dressed in p pioneer boneer costumes and the men wore beards upon leaving henefer the group accompanied by president george albert smith and governor herbert B maw journeyed to mormon flats where luncheon was served they then proceeded on to salt lake city for a parade and program |
