Show ON THE BEAM and a grand time was had by bk all those were the words expressed by members of the utah state press association at the conclusion of the summer meeting held at como springs this past week end As host newspaper for this occasion the morgan county news staff wishes publicly to express appreciation to the people of morgan for assistance given in making this convention such a success particularly we wish to thank joe williams and his committee of lions the daughters of utah pioneers and the others who did a bang up job in making the editors feel at home its this kind of friendly spirit of an entertaining community that lives long in the minds of visitors and morgan in going all out can be justly proud of the manner in which the utah publishers were received this press convention has done a lot for morgan more than can be actually measured these editors will go home and tell through their news columns and word to mouth just what a grand time they had in our city its been a great boost for morgan and wed like to see more of these gatherings they really pay off in advertising a community we liked the story bill long told us about the passenger on a western train who wanted to get off at san bernardino calif about 3 a in m it seems that this fellow propositioned the porter with these remarks sam no matter how mean I 1 appear to be tomorrow morning when we arrive at san bernardino I 1 want you to put me off you see I 1 dont like getting up so early and I 1 might put up a fight heres five bucks now see that I 1 get off this train even if you have to use force As the train pulled into the lo 10 los angeles station next morning this passenger saw sunlight streaming through his window after dressing he immediately looked up sam and gave him the dressing down of his life when the man had departed the conductor who had witnessed the scene remarked that that was probably the maddest man in the world no sir said sam the maddest man in the world is the one we put off the train at san bernardino |
