Show traffic deaths increase 16 per cent during past year the public education committee committe ol of the traffic division utah safety C council un meeting january 11 passed a resolution pledging redoubled efforts to ducate the public on the necessity for alertness when using the streets and highways of utah and the strict observance ab bEer servance vance of all traffic rules and re regulations ions designed for the safety of pedestrians as well as motorists the committee commended superintendent in P 11 dow of the state highway patrol and all enforcement of and for measures taken to follow up arid id or measures taken to follow up cases of all persons convicted of such serous serious of fences against traffic safety that the law requires suspension or revocation of their operators licenses the committee pledged support to the efforts of all highway officers in the rigid enforcement of all safety laws acceding to the resolution the number of deaths from traffic accidents increased more than 16 per cent as compared with 1943 and three of the deaths were from accidents in which drivers were operating whose licenses had been revoked or suspended officials have noted an ever increasing tendency on the part of a considerable portion of the public to ignore or to defy laws enacted in the interests of public safety the resolution states |
