| Show GRASS AND RANGE KANGE MAKING GOOD GROWTH just fine said lee peterson as he looked over his range re seeding tract back of the barn my cifes been saying the hill was get ting unusually green this year I 1 thought it was just june grass but I 1 see its all good perennial grasses and clover mr peterson Pe berson continued the lee peterson re seeding project is one of several which ihas has been undertaken by the soil conservation service in on effort to bring back the abundant grass and range forage which morgan county soils once produced mountain brome grass sweet clover slender wheat grass and western wheat grass were seeded broadcast last fall all f and the che seed was trampled in by sheep A recent survey of the peterson re seeding tract by the range section shows that an excellent stand of mountain brome yellow and white sweet clover and slender and western wheat grass are becoming established on the more arable sites while on the drier slopes the western wheat and clover are making a good start the native grasses of the tract are also responding to livestock exclusion and increased soil boil moisture service berry and snowberry stumps are sprouting out and the native grass which found refuge in thick sagebrush is going to seed the range section reports very encouraging results on all of the range revelation reve tation projects now being undertaken by morgan county cooperators |
