Show coalville Co alville pioneer celebrates birthday mrs william carruth who for 79 years has been a resident of coal ville wednesday celebrated her birthday the coalville Co alville camp of daughters of utah pioneers honored her during the afternoon by holding a special meeting at her home emma wilde carruth was born in england january 19 1849 and aid came to utah with her parents sarah hulet and henry B wilde in 1852 in the fall of 1859 the family moved to coalville Co alville being one of the first three families to settle here her father became the first bishop of coalville Co alville ward she married william carruth may 9 1870 and in 1920 they celebrated their golden wedding at Co alville mr carruth died in 1922 nine of her eleven children are living they are wm H carruth mrs J L mrs A E becker and elwood carruth of ogden J T carruth of oakland mrs J J johnson of morgan R T carruth of evanston maude M carruth of washington D C and frank carruth of cheyenne wyo mrs carruth is enjoying splendid health and is very active she has been a member of the Co alville ward relief society since before her marriage and is still actively engaged in that and other work summit county bee |
