Show county irrigation conditions aired A report of irrigation conditions in morgan county was made at the county planning meeting by carl phillips chairman of the committee on irrigation county agent C R richards gives us some of the facts and figures presented as follows morgan county has acres of irrigated land of this amount 5 acres or 50 percent has a full water right it is estimated that another other 6 to 7 thousand acre feet are needed to fully irrigate the county the committee pointed out the fact that there are some small reservoir sites in the county and opportunity for water development but at the present time they recommended buying more water from the echo reservoir because it Is much cheaper than other water would be thru developing new reservoirs there is some s 0 me water available in the echo reservoir and the committee points out that this is the logical place to secure additional water for the land not fully watered mr richards points out the fact that the agrical ture of the county as well as the entire state of utah depends on the use of irrigation water when water is available it should be put to the most beneficial use because there is less than 3 percent of the county which is irrigated all available water will eventually be used those who need more water and have an opportunity to get it at this time should plan to do so because it appears that there will be a time when additional water will be difficult to obtain |
