Show I 1 1937 agricultural conservation Out outline linel the county agent has received a preliminary outline of the 1937 I 1 agricultural conservation program the following general sta statements are given in this outline dealing with the program to be conducted for next year the goal of the 1937 agricultural conservation program is to achieve a better balance between son con serving crops and soil depleting crops which will maintain an and d improve the nations agricultural resources in the western region this program seeks especially to encourage all practices which prevent wind and water erosion through through the program the federal government offers to share with farmers the expense involved in reaching this goal county administration the pro program ram will be administered in the counties through the county committees of the county a agricultural conservation association associations ns election of community committees whose chairmen will be members of the boards of directors of the county associations will take place in each state as early in 1937 as can be arranged county administrative expenses will be deducted pro rata from the payments to farmers in the county who participate in the program A statement of these expenses will be published at the end of the fiscal year I 1 bases in order to measure the performance of each producer who cooperates in the program and determine the amount of payment earned soil depleting bases and a soil consert ing ine base will be established for each farm there will be a total soil de plating base which will include such crops as corn wheat oats barley sugar beets flax truck crops cotton tobacco and rice the gen en eral soil depleting base will include all of these crops except cotton tobacco and rice |
