Show I 1 new jew farm plan gives time for I 1 the announcement of the j agricultural conservation program alast last week more than three I 1 eai eailler lier than in 1936 will give the if farmers armors ample opportunity to study I 1 the plan and to make their definite I 1 programs for this year director william pete peterson in charge charae of the program in utah says the program for 1937 for thet the western region has been developed to give more emphasis to soil building practices which conserve soil fertility and prevent erosion george E farrell director of the western region says the diversion payment will be 6 per acre adjusted to productivity for each acre diverted in addition 3 for each acre diverted for payment as adjusted for productivity will be added to the soil building allowance for the farm and will be paid to farmers upon performance of soil building practices for most farms the general soil building buil dine al allo lowane wanie will be determined by multiplying the normal c soil 0 il conserving acreage plus the acres diverted by 1 however on I 1 farms where most of the land is in soil conserving crops the soil building I 1 allowance will be computed by multiplying milti plying the total number of acres in cropland by 80 cents Z with this rate adjusted to the productivity of the land in either case additions may be made to the allow allowance arce for land in truck crops or orchards in pastures and in range land other steps in the 1937 conservation program as outlined by mr peterson are as follows 1 soil building practices eg which have been tentatively developed in washington at a conference attended by W W owens assistant director and J W gillman of orem member of the state AAA committee will be put in final form and announced 2 community meetings will be held in january for the purpose of electing community committeemen and completing the county committee and nc exola explaining 1 ining the general outlines of the 1937 program 3 farmers will be given opportunity to meet individually with their local committeemen or their county agent and to find out just how the 1937 program applies to their farms at this time every farmer will have an opportunity to sign a work sheet every farmer should thus have a chance to know i before planting time how much the 1937 program can mean to him I 1 special features of the pro program gram including the range program the classification of land use and other problems are being worked out as rapidly as possible and will be announced as soon as they are ready |
