Show MORGAN HIGH WINS STATE HONORS AT AT A S SL lo 10 morgan county high school scored first place honors at the annual high school day held at the U of U last friday miss ireta carter daug daughter ate r of mr and mrs alfred carter of porterville received the highest total score in a five part chemistry test this chemistry test included an examination on the identification of apparatus attrib autive to a chemical laboratory an exercise in identifying the common chemical compounds an essay on one of metallurgical industries an experiment in separating ions from their compounds and th writing of formulas of chemical compounds miss carters first score on such a test was remarkable inasmuch as she competed with students from almost every high school in the state and thi this s was the first time that students from morgan had ever entered such contest at the university miss carter Is a chemistry student of mr pratt wright mr B K Fam Farn cast presented a one act play the valiant in competition with five other one act plays and won first place the state wag was divided into six districts wherein contests were first held among the high schools within each district the morgan cast met the casts from the weber county high school and the ogden high school at ogden on may fifth and won the ri right ht to enter the state contest chloe robison grant kearns keams glen stewart alonzo francis and ted london displayed unusual talent in their presentation of the valiant and proudly walked off with the first place silver trophy miss robison received special compliments on her work the music department held its own by placing two prizes the band took second place in class C mr floyd larson and his forty eight band students did very well vell in meeting their competition since a large number of reputable bands were contestants in class C vincent newcomer won third place in the baritone horn born solo contest the morgan county high school did itself proud by doing so well in the state high school c contest test |
