' Mr. McCornick and his engineer were there in person. They came up in an automobile and returned to Salt Lake in it the same night Mr. McCornick stated that he would build .a fifty kilowatt electric light plant which would be flexible enough to furnish double the power required. He said he could not legally go in with the1 city to build the same as heretofore suggested, but that he would be willing to build it himself and sell it to the city, of upon the .payment of a portion such on it down, and the balance payments as the city could easily meet. He agreed to build the same for $10,000. Another proposition that he made the city was, that he would build the plant and operate it provided, that the city would contract to take a given quantity of electricity for twenty-fivyears, die would sell the current to the city in bulk at five cents per kilowatt, and he himself would supply the adjoining towns. A fiat.rate of 50c per light up to four lights with a minimum of $2, is the rate spoken of. Thirty miles of wire would be strung. After the lines are completed, the city would have to maintain the lines within the city limits, however, Mr. McCornick would stand the operating expenses at the plant. Reference was made as. to the comparative cost between a steam plant and one like that which has been suggested. It was stated that it cost Coalville $250 a month for coal in winter and 115 in summer. The steam a special accommodate the crowd) on Sunday, at 2 p. m.
