Show Accidents Record Heavy Loss A hta heavy vy property loss was recorded last weekend in two accidents recorded on the Big Hollow Road east of Fountain Fountain Fountain Foun Foun- tain Green The first mishap occurred Saturday evening at approximately approximately approximately pm p.m. when a large ton eight-ton truck owned by Gene Syme was loaded with coal heading headIng heading head head- ing for Fountain Green on the Big Hollow Road The driver of the truck was Mr Symes Syme's son Ronnie The truck turned over spewing spewing spewing spew spew- ing the coal over the area Ronnie was trapped In the cab of the truck for a short time with a serious head in injury jury which later required 20 stitches According to Highway Patrolman Patrolman Patrolman Patrol Patrol- man Gayle who In Investigated Investigated investigated In- In the accident when young Mr Syme released himself himself himself him him- self from the truck he lost his sense of directions and started walking back toward Fairview He was found by his father who had started a search for him some three or four tour miles from rom the overturned truck Mr said that on Sunday morning the coal was cleaned up and placed In a pile for hauling to Fountain Green Paul Bailey took his 1969 Chevrolet truck to the area and brought back a load of the coal Merlin Christensen also of Fountain Green took his 1951 Ford pickup and loaded up with coal and started back toward Fountain Green when he and Mr Bailey collided as Mr Bailey was returning for a a. second load Mr estimated that there was 2500 damage to the Symes Syme's big truck 1000 to Mr Baileys Bailey's 1969 model and that a replacement value tag was placed on Mr Christensen's Christensen's Christensen's Christen- Christen sens sen's truck Mr felt that the Symes Syme's youth was lucky that he hadn't been killed or lost his way and could have frozen to death or died from loss of blood |
