H HAASER Numerous people have in inquired inquired inquired in- in about the closure of the Patten Fatten road as mentioned briefly briefly briefly brief brief- ly in this paper a few weeks ago in a report on the activities activities activities ties of the City Council The lower portion of the road for approximately one mile above the creek bridge will be closed permanently to vehicle traffic this winter in an attempt to curtail the serious erosion resulting from the road Vehicles Vehicles Ve Ve- Ve- Ve hides will still be able to travel the road from the Burnt Hill to Patten Reservoir Those of you who have traveled traveled trav tray the lower section of this road recently will recognize its extremely eroded conditions Road grades exceed 30 per cent in many places with up to two feet in depth down the center of the road Closure will consist of water baring the road heavily so that water will run off the road surface surface surface sur sur- face quickly thus preventing gully formation The road will also be seeded to reduce soil movement |
