| Show Three Manti Monti Youths Hurt in Auto Crash T Three h r e e 19 year old year old Manti ManU youths youths were critically injured in a one-car one accident about two miles south of Ephraim e ear early a r l I y Sunday morning The three David Munk Kim Madsen 1 and Carl Boyington were reported to be returning home from Mt Pleasant when their car left the road went into the right borrow pit then came to a farm access road which served as a catapult to their auto Patrolman Bert who investigated the accident nt said the car traveled through the air for 80 feet from the time its tires left the access road until it landed The three occupants w were re all thrown from the car which probably probably pro pro- bably saved their lives as the thea a auto to is a mashed twisted wreck Carl Boyington is the only one of the occupants who has been able to talk to date and he is uncertain whether Kim or Da David David David Da- Da vid was driving Find Wreckage Alan Smith was out for a late evening drive driving south from Ephraim when he saw the wrecked car on its top with one headlight burning He stopped to investigate and found Carl Boyington on his feet moving around but very much dazed They were soon joined by Dee and friend from Gunnison who had seen the wreck and gone to Ephraim to notify Dr and Patrolman Patrolman Patrolman Pa Pa- Mr Smith says he found Kim about 10 feet south of the car lying near the fence while David David Da Da- Da vid was about 15 feet north of the car It was evident that Kim was injured as he gasped for breath but Alan said he could detect no life in David It is not known just where Carl landed as he was thrown from the car but one of his shoes was found on the edge of the road All three were reported covered with dust from the crash and had cuts Injured Removed Mr and f friend r i e end n d went to Manti to notify Reuben Buchanan and he and his son Wallace Vallace came to the scene to pick up David and Kim They reported that David was limp and did not move when they loaded him while Kim was all tensed up and tight gasping for breath Patrolman gave Alan permission to take Carl Boyington Boyington Boy Boy- Boyington ington to Manti fanti to be tended by Dr Davidson Dr Davidson checked Carl then allowed him to go to the home of his parents parents parents par par- Mr and Mrs Lafe Boyington Boyington Boyington Boy Boy- ington with orders that he be kept quiet Dr Davidson later went to the Sanpete hospital where Kim and David received aid to close cuts etc then took them themon on to Salt Lake City where they were entered in the HolyCross Holy HolyCross HolyCross Cross Hospital There have been many rumors and much talk about the condition condition condition condi condi- tion of the boys At this writing we can offer the following Carl Boyington still at his home in Manti Suffered broken brok brok- en ribs bruised back brain concussion concussion concussion con con- fractured pelvis and damaged bladder He also hasa has has' hasa a great variety of aches and pains following his harrowing experience Carl is being kept quiet and his condition is watched watch watch- ed carefully Kim Madsen son of Mr 1 and Mrs Bud Madsen ladsen suffered a shoulder separation which must be cured by surgery and pinning the shoulder Kim has internal injuries brain concussion anda and and- a great variety of scrapes and scuffs on his body He is resorted re rel reported re- re l sorted ported to have regained consciousness consciousness consciousness cons cons- and making a show of or improvement His parents were ere on the mountain when the accident occurred red and were no notified notified notified no- no by the Barton Brothers whose sheep they were herding David Munk l son of Dr and 1 Mrs rs J.
