C Barnett In January the Board of Education Education Education Ed Ed- of South Sanpete School District made a recommendation for consolidation of schools within with with- in the district as follows Leave kindergarten through ninth grade in Ephraim Combine grades ten eleven and nd twelve of Ephraim with Manti in ManU Manti Transport Sterling and Mayfield Mayfield Mayfield May- May field grades s seven e eve v e n through twelve now going to Manti ManU to Gunnison Transport Sterling kindergarten ten tn through grade six to May- May field Combine Centerfield and Gunnison Gunnison Gunnison Gun Gun- nison Elementary kindergarten through grade six in one school Leave Gunnison High School cs us at nt present with the addition of Sterling and Mayfield stu stu- dents This program would call for fora I Ia a new elementary and junior high building at Ephraim a new gym in Manti a new gym at nt Gunnison Valley High and a anew anew anew new elementary school in Gunnison Gunnison Gunnison Gun Gun- nison Valley This proposed program was explained in all communities of the district and a district citizens citizens citi citi- zens committee was formed to study the problem and recommend recommend recommend mend a program to the Board In their study the committee asked three men Dr E. E Allen Bateman state superintendent of public instruction Dr Wm Vm P. P Miller president of Weber college college college col col- lege and Dr J. J C.
