Show UTAH AUTHOR FINDS ARTICLES OF VALUE 1 IN THE CHRONICLE salt lake city utah july tuly 1 1935 editor chronicle congratulations on your twenty fifth anniversary although Altho i I 1 have never been a res ident of delta or of millard county I 1 have been a reader of the delta chronicle for a number of years and have found it a mighty interesting paper not because of its weekly chronicling chroni cling of events in which I 1 have no interest but because of the many articles it has contained of a scientific and historical nature looking back through my files of clippings taken from the delta chronicle I 1 find a great deal of ma aerial which baa has been useful to me from a historical viewpoint you hare have published from time to time old records old journals stories and ex perleacer perie perle aces of pioneers such as john steele ezra W penny W cropper and others who came to 4 millard county in early days and alv ed through the hard times of tha period without complaint articles by the late don maquire which you printed a few years ago furnish Ms cals information of importance not found in any other publication in the field of archeology archaeology arche the chronicle has published a series aeries of informative articles from which the average reader could gain a liberal education in the pre prehistory ot of man in america without the purchase of an expensive library of particular interest to me have been your reports ot of the th many interesting finda finds cf of in dian than relics la millard Cau county rity including tha the at kaboth aud ai vr vat houi tan tam aad tiame tut slits ituau ty 1 yourself dr steward the john brothers arthers br and others interested in early indian history die ie legend of modern indians which you have cel lebed and published are a valuable contribution to american ethnology in the field of paleontology the chronicle has carried a of interesting stories telling of many important fossil remains found in and near millard county and your efforts in that direction have result ed in the finding of certain species new to science from that region it can truthfully be said that your ef forts torts have added to the sum total of human knowel dge through your efforts and through the mae columns of the chronicle many previously unknown groups of petro glyphs have been discovered and re ported A beginning has been made in the scientific interpretation of these strange pictures which will some day be recognized by scientists as a valuable contribution to indian pre history all these articles of a scientific alture nature have been clipped and breser and will undoubtedly be found of great value in later years when the very existence of the delta chronicle will ibave been forgotten on this twenty fifth anniversary the chronicle la Is to be congratulated not only tor for having successfully weathered many years of struggle and ad hard times but also for having contributed much in the way of his tory and science which nv aich would other wise never have been known in this year of 1935 which promises to be a little brighter than those just pass ed I 1 wish tor for the chronicle and its editor the success chica Is their due charles kelly |
