Show FOSSILS IN leavington leamington LEA CANYON CUP CORALS mr G W teacher at leamington leavington Lea came to delta last fri day and showed the editor some nice fossils of Devon devonian Jan age found in the leamington leavington Lea canyon in the narrows but a few miles from leamington leavington Lea they are cup corals and when highly polished bring out the septa very plainly and are quite a hand some ornament the animals which lived in these cups a tunnel funnel shaped cornucopia were colonies in la which division of work existed some were ever at the task of moving wa ter throng the canals and others ev er at the task of gathering food from that flow of nourishment and still others ever busy distributing that tood so obtained the cups themselves are the exo skeletons of the polyps that lived in the group just as a sponge similarly Is the skeleton of its inhabiting an ani mal mr kept the fossils to talk to the students about and this summer intends to go out in the field and get some more himself the devonian age Is about two periods later than the cambrian to our west in the house range |
