Show OLD CAPITOL the daughters ot of utah pioneers in iii carrying out their purpose of pre serving and maintaining historic buildings and relics relies of 0 pioneer days have turned their attention to the old state house at fillmore this old building in 1854 hous ed two sessions of the territorial legislature later the state capital was permanently established in salt lake city and the building was tak en over by fillmore city and used for various purposes by the people ot of that community it was given little care and be came more run down from year to year until the american legion got an appropriation from the state of utah in 1921 1922 and used the money and much free labor in re puring the building the state leg in 1927 made an tion of 10 00 which was used in restoring the building to its or condition the building and grounds were taken over by the state and are now state property the daughters of the pioneers have lave been given charge of the build ing tor for the purpose lot of making a place to collect preserve and exhibit pioneer relics the millard county chapters have secured an tion ion ot of 1 I 1 form the county corn com missioners miss loners of milard county and are now busy preparing the building and exhibits in order to promote interest in the building and have the people of utah become acquainted with it they have planned a big STATE DAYS celebration at filmore on july and the entertainment will in elude parades programs a pageant depicting utah history and the ded by governor derp of 0 the old state house as a museum there will be also the usual band concerts concert rodeo dancing racing horse show and barbecue the daughters of at the pioneers cordiali cord laly ialY invite tu to attend this celebration |
