senior went over to ka nosh to show the indiana indians there his photos ot of indians indian villages churches and ceremonial dances ta ken last year in arizona and new mexico copies oil painting of chief kanosh hanosh the first thing I 1 did on coming to the town of kanosh was to call at the home of mrs nell bird where I 1 was kindly allowed to take a photo graphic copy of the oil painting of chief kanosh which mrs bird owns chief kanosh was highly respect ed by the whites in tact fact must have been o 0 so to have won the honor of having the town named after him he was of uncommon strength of character of superior intellect and a man of great influence among his people I 1 hope the copy turns oue one well but as it Is an oil painting with red predominating and as I 1 did not use panchromatic films or light filter I 1 may have to do it all over again as I 1 fear that the resultant print will be too dark it if not correct I 1 will go again and get it as nearly right as I 1 can afternoon and evening A with aith ith indian indiana following rol lowing that I 1 visited he after noon and evening with the indians at the little village the women were very busy making buckskin gloves which I 1 watched intently it is very interesting I 1 also looked carefully at a number of deer hides well tan ned soft and pliable tin tot of seven Al iwas I 1 was particularly pleased with the handwriting of miss arvilla pick a tiny little dusky hued lass ot of only seven summers who took pen cil in hand and showed me how well she could write her name in english she is bright that day she was neatly dressed in a brand new frock of brilliant colors and I 1 hope my photos of her are good photos interest intel Inte est iest group the photos I 1 had taken in arizona california utah uth colorado and new mexico of a great many things in dian than their homes in three five and seven stories height stone and adobe the churchs churche built by the in deans themselves groups and single indians in poses with characteristic indian things in hand or head greatly interested my audience there was a little talk in esplan atlon with each photo and consider able amusement when I 1 showed a number of their own people taken last summer the indians had a good joke about me and when I 1 caught on there was hilarious merriment all around I 1 was sitting with the women watch ing their worl
