Show county commissioners Is 11 set tax levies for 1938 cl chairman airman Is marion and C commissioners C E freer and at K johnson were pre present ent at the regular august meeting of tho the board of county held wed tax sales and routine matters were attended to but the principal business was the setting of 0 the tax levies tor for 1938 1 the total levy tor for state county count Y and school purposes remains the same as for or 1937 but there was some change in the distribution oi 0 the levy the state had reduced its levy for state and state school purposes from mills to mills the commissioners reduced the levy tor for county poor from 4 of a mill to 2 ot of a mill this difference together with the 13 of a mill by which the state levy was reduced was added to the county roads thus raising it from mills to 17 mills it was explained that the constant demand for or good roads properly maintained throughout the county made this increase necessary the tax levies in mills tor for 1938 are as follows 1938 1937 7 county schools state state schools dond bond interest and payments 35 35 county general 20 20 county roads 17 county poor I 1 2 4 dependent mothers 4 4 old age pension 30 30 exhibits 2 2 total mills all the cities and towns except fillmore and holden have reported their proposed levies and in every case the levy remains the same as last year it will wil I 1 be remembered that fillmore cuy city made no levy last year the towns reputing are ns as follows delta mills scipio 80 mills meadow mills oak city mills kanosh 60 mills hinckley 10 mills Lea leavington leamington 80 mills special levies are set by the leg ture lure so remain the same as last year they are as follows I 1 on all range horses and range cattle tor for extermination of predatory animals 20 mills on all sheep tor for extermination of 0 predatory animals 50 mills on all cattle otherwise assessed lor for tubercular indemnity fund 30 mills |
