Show I 1 KRAL feral SERVICES FOR ATTY atry WM B HIGGINS funeral services wore were held sunday may 26 in the fillmore ward for william B D higgins whose untimely and unexpected death occurred I 1 thursday of 0 last week the th well attended services were among the most impressive ever held in pill more boore and were in true keeping with the life and ideals of the deceased As was expressed mr air higgins was a great lover and apt performer of all the tha arts of expression he loved music literature and any form of oral expression the services were very thoughtfully planned with these traits of character in mind and it la is seldom that a funeral is as rich in this respect as was this among the special musical numbers were two renditions by a double mixed quartette 0 of the following personnel thomas director vernon peterson linden robison Rob lson culbert robison mrs rachel brunson mrs edna day mrs anne robison and miss bliss marilyn brunson A vocal solo was rendered by vernon peterson a violin solo by olive brunson a vocal duet by birs airs hazel trimble and thomas and a special number by the ward choir with mrs airs anne robison as soloist the speakers likewise were ire hued with their subjects and seemed to draw inspiration from the tor for englc ability ol of the departed dr wm win baker life long acquaintance and friend spoke very tory interestingly of the early struggles adventures and accomplishments ol of attorney higgins bishop P lorenzo brunson s n told of a friendship which developed I 1 between himself and mr higgins gans when the latter first came to fillmore to practice law ile he told of his bis pleasing disposition and abil ryas RY as an entertainer tr alo last speaker president T callister Calli ater gave a very tine fine character er study of wm B higgins as he knew him at maturity he told of his high ideals able mind and exemplary philosophy of 0 lite both dr baker and president callister read touchingly appropriate poetry which were selected from a collection ot of literature which mr air illg gins had written during his life time the services were conducted by bishop blake davies the invocation was wag offered by peter L brunson the benediction by D D bushnell and the dedication ot of the grave was wag by frank badger the tha attendance ot of many people from neighboring towns and a large loral floral offering ott ering gave evidence ot of the general high esteem in which mr higgins and his good family are held the deceased Is survived by his widow mrs sarah anderson andersen higgins gans and tour four children genevieve 19 william elzo eizo 18 reid held gardner 16 and eugene clarke 13 he is also survived by the following brothers and sisters ross hoss higgins and mrs airs eva littledike ot of fillmore mrs oscar demill of rockville utah and three halt brothers and a halt sister in california wm B higgins was born 57 67 years ago in st george utah the son of 0 dr silas gardner higgins and nancy louisa clarko clarke he was educated at the brigham young university and the law school ot of the university ot of into idaho where he practiced law tor for a lew few years and then over twenty years ago he came to fillmore Fill moro to establish himself in his chosen profession here he met miss alias sarah anderson and they were married june 3 1914 in the salt lake temple in his many years of legal service in this district mr higgins developed the reputation of absolute fearlessness le asness and conscientious integrity aw rc aena edw no yielding nor did he spare hla his energy it if he thought his cause was right his practice was extensive and the legal history of utah boasts landmark cases and decisions of our supreme court in hech hla his effort largely figured 4 the near rela relatives tives who came from out of town to attend the services included mr and mrs airs noall anderson and mr air and mrs airs eddie anderon son of Grants grantsville ville mr air and mrs C H anderson of ogden miss geneva anderson of salt lake city mr air and anc mrs W J anderson of provo mrs mra stena robins of lava hot springs spring idaho mrs anna D anderson mra mrs ester huntsman and mr and mrs ross boss halkes of salt lake city and mrs oscar dimill of rockville |
