Show mya evela 0 1 5 fd fairy i ry ta tale I 1 e www GRAHAM BOWER i n atun 14 0 W THE HOSPITAL RABBITS two rabbits had find been sent to a hos pital which had already a big bag white rabbit some one had thought that the hos pital children would be cheered by having these thesa pets about and indeed they wore were I 1 when they first akst arrived tho the matron said to herself gracious morcy mercy met there tire over seventy children in the hospital to be thought about and taken care of and now along como come these rabbits but the rabbits she knew would bo be loved by the children and she knew too that they would entertain the children and that made her happy above all things besides the rabbits were so cunning ning 1 their noses wiggled their eyes looked both friendly and mischievous and they quite won her heart site bho was of course a little amused to think of adding to all her present burdens though she really enjoyed her burdens hugely which Is more onoro than can bo be said for most I 1 still sho she had to smile for she knew that no one else would take charge of the rabbits but herself she was really the one who took charge of the big simply indifferent white rabbit which they had had for motile time the big white rabbit had also been sent ns as a gift to the children and ho he was well used to the hospital by now Me everyone took a great interest in him but the matron really took care of him lie ile liked to be by himself ile he was friendly rt endly with the children and a great pet but lie he particularly excited about tho the arrival of the rabbit pair not that lie disliked them by no means mcana nor wp was ho he jealous of them lie ile was waa simply indifferent to them ile iio was waa ready to go on being just na as friendly with tho the children and just as polite to the tha new rabbits but lie ho believe in making a terrific fuss over them when lie that kind of a nature but the two new rabbits were happy together sometimes they would each go on tho the opposite side bide oi 01 their little doorway and they would look through their open doorway at each other for the sheer joy of gazing tit at each other and of putting oft off tho the moment when again they would be side by side for it was so nice to look forward to being sida by side in so short a time the joy of if looking forward was waa very pleasant in itself oh oft how flow these two rabbits loved each other they would sit so BO very close together and their little heads would bo be close together and they would be us as happy as could be bel I 1 and ana how the children in the hospital did enjoy they were devoted to each other they were devoted to the children and nd they were devoted to cabbage and carrots I 1 and the children petted them and loved them and yet fuss fusa with them in any way but a very gentle way and the rabbits loved their new homo home they had a big home made of wood and it was wai at tho the end of the hospital ward in a big kind on of a yard which had been ma made ae and which was surrounded Bur rounded by wood and wire in the yard there was grass anti and some borne earth and plenty of delicious dell clotis food and vegetables too tile tho rabbits thought hospital life was ven very happy and very plea pleasant stint sometimes when ft P new child came to tho the hospital a little girl perhaps who had to have lier her tonsils taken outs out the rabbits would make her feel less strange and shy and lonely and homesick for tile the wiggled their little noses and moved their eara cars as though to say any this a dreadful place at nil all I 1 why you dont know the good times wo we have here you believe it unless you were here our matron one of those foolish people who think that the only way to have children gorol god Is to t 0 make them very quiet and never allow them to say hardly a word no ko ours likes laughter and happiness and cheeriness and even a dash of mischief misch let now and again and so were the best beat behaved most cheerful collection of hospital creatures yov could hid find and the truth |
