Show MISSION missionary ARY LETTER r decatur neb apr aar 08 progress review dillmore rill Fil linore more utah dear brothers thinking perhaps a few words from froin the mission field would be of some interest to some soine of tile the readers of the progress and realizing as I 1 do the vast amount of latter day saints th throughout hout afie stakes of zion who tire are ever desirous and anxious to learn of the progress and spread of tile the gospel abroad among tle the world which is grouping in spiritual darkness having nearly nineteen months experience in missionary life laboring almost exclusively among unbelievers believers un of the gospel which ive been sent to proclaim and during which experience peri ence I 1 have beon been able to notice a gibat change that has taken place in the religious world prejudice towards our people and their religious reli gous belief is continually ceasing and truth spreading rapidly through out more so especially since the ibe charge against senator reed sip cot in the senate was vas defeated the true gospel of christ commonly called mormonism sua erroneously bo however wever is investigated and joined by many continua continually y W who 0 h have a v 6 through the prayers and faith and persi persistent stant d a divine testimony I 1 there are thousands aDds of books of mormon besides many more doctrinal books being distributed ed yearly by the elders by the means of which many honest souls are to be brought to the gospel dospel of christ in its fullness p purity and simplicity since in tile the missionary field I 1 have had inana many wonderful experiences perien ces have seen the power of the lord made manifest in ill many different waa was s w which aich has added much strength to my testimony I 1 have strength from the lord many times sufficient to enable me to work that otherwise I 1 could not have doue done twenty three of we elders w were ere located in the city of orna oma lia ila the past winter directing our labors entirely toward tile the ministers and business men among the ministers mini we were treated civil by a few but the great majority were very hostile displaying indeed the very spirit and po power that crusi tied fied the redee redeemer in er of tile the world also the prop prophet liet of the nineteenth century jos smith if ye were of the world the world wold would lose its own but because I 1 have chosen you out of the world therefore the world habeth you jno 15 19 this makes it clearly comprehensive why we as the true servants of gorl were created irei ted so uncivil and unchristian christ dan like recently I 1 was privileged to labor one week among the lam lain anides who in of book of mormon prophecy pop liec y have become educated and intelligent I 1 was pleased to note that a great religious wave was spread throughout among them they tire are accepting their re deemer and hungering after light and truth my companion and I 1 by the help of the lord sold them 80 some odd books of mormon which is a history of their forefathers and it will bring them thein to it a knowledge of the same as they read it we also held some very interesting te meetings among them atone of which there were between two and three hundred in attendance we explained explain pd in our own lanati language aLre the gospel plan and what it meant to all especially those who obeyed we also endeavored to make plain their origin from the book of mormon standpoint after we were through speaking two of their leaders would interpret ter teT pret they all seemed seem ed to welcome us and accept our oft message as truth and vast import tand and we felt fully satisfied with our labor among them and felt feli to rejoice that they were in making a ki c ng ready to enter the fold of christ once more missionary life has ben bean indeed a pleasure to me and has brought me more real satisfaction than a any ny other work I 1 was ever engaged in I 1 know that at I 1 I 1 could not have been more benefited coraly or spiritually in double the time elsewhere I 1 and would have been ano re so had my previous life been of a different character I 1 feel thankful to my m y heavenly father that he called mu mo out from froin a life of sin and dissipation into one oie of rectitude and righteous ness and sent me forth as an advocate of his revealed truths I 1 would like to minke it plain and impress it upon the minds of all young men in ill zion and elsewhere the necessity of obey ing tl the ie gospel and living in accordance with its teachings while opportunity affords and make inake ready for a mission that awaits them thein I 1 have had some difficulties to confront the greatest of which I 1 was called to 0 mourn the loss of a dear mother shortly after arriving tit at my field of labor it was hard but the lord gave me strength to bear it and blessed me for so doing my prayers are that I 1 may continue trustworthy of the trust that has been made of me until the erid end cind and remain in the harness until I 1 lam am called on oil th the e other side to resume my i labors there trusting that these few fe w lines will wil I 1 ll 11 be appreciated by some and tha ing the members of the P ess for the free copy which I 1 receive weekly may god bless all who strive to keep his commandments with peace comfort and satisfaction through life is the prayer of your brother in
