Show Warmly Contested School Election Bi ings Out Record Vote In Places Strong Sectional Feeling Develops and West End of County is Defeated on Face of Returns Morrissey's Vote Shows Surprising Sur-prising Increase in Papulation Beaver county's 1926 school election elec-tion is now history. Whether the final chapter is yet written remains to be seen. That more interest was manifested than is usual in an election elec-tion of this kind is shown from the number of votes polled especially' at two voting places in the eastern part of district number five. At Morrissey for instance, twenty-one votes were polled, much to the surprise sur-prise of those who were unaware that this voting precinct had enjoyed, such a healthy growth in population. The same was true of North Creek, whose normal voting strength of . less than twenty-five, suddenly increased to forty-four. It is hardly necessary to state that every one of these votes, as well as the seventy-one at Greenville, Green-ville, v,ere cast in favor of the candidate candi-date from Greenville, the candidate from the west end of the county failing fail-ing to receive a single vote. In this respect alone, the voters in the west end retaliated, every vote going to Cates except one, which was cast for Barton. No unusual voting strength developed at any of these polling places, however. Another closely contested race was between E. N. Thompson and Carl Tolton for a place on the board in the East Beaver district. Thompson defeated his opponent by 28 votes. in the Minersville district. Geo. I Marshall had a walk-away, defeat-I defeat-I ing Guy Carter by 92 votes, i James Williams' majority over W. ! C. Cates, as shown by the returns, was 49 votes. The unofficial returns from the various voting places are as follows: District No. 1 Beaver E. N. Thompson 144 , Carl Tolton 116 District No. 3 Minersville Geo.
