Show RED CROSS ROLL CALL IMPORTANT The opening date of the Seventh Annual Red Cross Roll Call was Sun.'.ay, November 11. Following the enthusiastic and effective action of the organizaiion during the recent Japanese earthyuake disaster the Berkeley fire, not to mention other relief measures liuanced and administered admin-istered by the lied Cross, it has been most truly said, by Wm. Carl Hunt, manager of the Pacific division, divis-ion, that if disaster relief were the only activity carried on by the Red Cross, it would amply justify its existence ex-istence and would be sufficient reason rea-son for members throughout the country !o renew their connection annually with the organization. The stupendous sum of 163 million mil-lion dollas has been expended in service ser-vice to war veterans and their families. fami-lies. Thirty-four thousand of these men are still hospitalized, and more than 40,000 others are constantly making application for hospital treatment, besides 73,000 men receiving re-ceiving vocational training. Statistics are general! yconsidered tiresome but it, is of interest to note that the work for these men and ther families covers a wide variety of services which the government is not authorized to render, and for which it. has neither money nor facilities. fac-ilities.
