Show Cave Mine Bought By Croff People Development Soon The Croff mining, company, with properties located in the Lincoln mining district, near Milford, in Beaver Bea-ver county, has acquired the old Cave properties, consisting of twelve patented pat-ented claims, located in the sam; district. dis-trict. The deal was consumated on Thursday and all title to the Cave mining properties passed to the Croft It was announced by the Croff officials of-ficials that the Cave mining properties proper-ties were acquired without in any way impairing the treasury of the Croff Mining company, it being understood un-derstood that the stockholders of the Cave Mining company accepted treasury stock of the Croff in exchange ex-change for title to their mining claims. It was stated that the deal would in no way hotel back or change the present plans of development work at the Croff property. The Cava mine was one of the rich early producers of the Lincoln district dis-trict and has produced approximate, ly $1,000,000 from a system of cave ore bodies. Lorrin N. Morrison, who was connected with the old Frisco smelter in the early mining history of the district, is well informed and acquainted with the Cave properties. He says that the production was obtained from a system of caves that extended back over the top of the mountain. There were innumerable of these caves, he states, many of them producing very high grade ore, while others produced only iron ore. The property was developed only a few hundred feet below the surface, but Mr. Morrison says it is certain that the ore extends flown deeper and that there are many caves in thei property that, have not yet been developed. Mr. Morrison states that the Cave nvne produced most of its ore in the year 187S, 1879 and 1880. It was the salvation of the Frisco smelter, he says, being its principal supply of ore. The fluxing iron ore from the Cave property he says, is the finest fluxing ore on earth. Mr. Morrison says with little work the Cave property can be made to produce commercial silver-lead ore. It will necessitate a small amount of preliminary work, he says. There is a lot of the ore left in the caves, he says, and with systematic and scientific scien-tific development work, the mine has great possibilities. At present the Croff mine is fully financed for a campaign of development develop-ment work to get under a strong vein of ore which has been worked from the ore face by leasers during 19 25. Working by baud, a leaser is said to have extracted approximately $3 0.-000 0.-000 worth of ore from the Croff. A tunnel is being driven to intercept this ore at depth and the first ore-bearing ore-bearing fissure should be cut within a few days. The Croff mine is under the management man-agement of O. F. Brinton. an experienced exper-ienced mining engineer. The Croff mine has excellent prospects and with the acquisition of the Cave prop erty is uow one of the potential bis producers of the Beaver county district, dis-trict, which is rapidly coming to the x front as a leading lead-silver producer. produc-er. The Croff officials state that the acquisition ac-quisition of the Cave properties will In no way hinder the development of the CrofT and that the present development devel-opment plans will be carried through as at first planned. The stockholders of the Cave Mining Min-ing company will be given representation represen-tation on the CrofT Mining company board of directors. The Cave stockholders, stock-holders, who had not worked their property for years, will now be given the benefit of the CrofT development and assured development of the Cave property as well. It is one of the most omportant mining deals consummated consummat-ed in the Beaver county mining district dis-trict during the year. |
