Show ACTIVITIES OF THE HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE WEEK The Washington's Birihday oratorical ora-torical contest is to be hold in the high school auditorium, Friday afternoon. after-noon. There will be three contestants contes-tants Macel Rogers, Gladys Coleman Cole-man and Charles McCulloy. Miss Grace Plummer, Rev. Bess and Mr. Hubbell will act as judges. The successful suc-cessful competitors will receive a gold medal. With the exception of the orations ithi past week has been an uneven t- ful one for the high school. Almost jail of the students havebeen assisting assist-ing the juniors in their work, in addition ad-dition to lessons, hag kept the students stu-dents busy both night and day. The tenth grade English class, to complete its study of debating, has - given a series of three debates on Thursday and Friday mornings. The first debate discussed the question, "The Effectiveness of Prohibition." The second debaters argued that "Women Should Hold Political Offices." Offi-ces." At the third debate: "Declared that the Motion Pictures were of value to a community educationally and morally. The ninth grade English class acted act-ed as judges of the debates. Monday morning, March 3rd, Rev. Bess will t'alk to the senior high school English classes on Shakespeare. Shake-speare. All the classes .have either finished fin-ished or are beginning the study of Shakapeare and thej students are anticipating this lecture. Rev. Bess visited the school Wednesday Wed-nesday morning and talked to some of the classes. He told the boys and girls that his purpose in coming was to show how much happier the optimist opti-mist is than the pessimest. |
