Show Society Notes A surprise handkerchief shower was given in honor of Mrs. Charles Newhart Monday evening, the occasion occas-ion being her birthday. The evening was spent in playing cards and dancing. danc-ing. A dinner was served to the following fol-lowing guests: . Mr. and Mrs. George Fernley, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. R. Mur-ilk, Mur-ilk, Mr. and Mrs. Al Cline, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Farmer, Mrs. Joe Kinney, Erma Gillies, Dr. and Mr3. W. W. Markham. Dr. Charles Parrish, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Newhart. Mrs. Karl Levi entertained, the Old Friends club at her home Wednesday afternoon. Cards were enjoyed and resulted in high score being won by Mrs. George Ransome, and second prize by Mrs. B. Hutchins. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served to the following ladies: Mrs. Fred Levi, Mrs. Scott Tanner, Mrs. Antone Johnson, Mrs. Ralph Quayle, Mrs. Roy White. - Mrs. Charles Newhart was hostess to members of the Dinner Bridge club Saturday evening at her home on scuth Stoddard street. The long (able was decorted with a crystal bowl filled with yellow flowers and yellow candles in silved candle- holders hold-ers were placed at each end. Place cards in yellow completed the yellow color scheme. Covers were laid for the following: Mrs. Geo. Fernley, Mrs. Charles Moore, Mrs. Frank Calloway, Cal-loway, Mrs. Charles Sloan, Mrs. Rolf Bellingmo, Mrs. Wm. Morely, and Mrs. Al Cline was an invited guest. Mrs. Newhart received hostess prize and Mrs. Frank Calloway, consolation. consola-tion. The Pierian club met at the home of Mrs. W. W. Markham Monday evening; October 26th. The program for the evening was "Hallowe'en." Where itorinigated, its superstitions, and beliefs, which was read by Mrs. Henry Bowman. "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," by Washington Irv- J- ing, was also given and was read by Mrs. W. W. Markham, Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. Vena Wilson. Very delicious delici-ous refreshments were served to the club members, Mrs. D. A. Baxter, Mrs. Ed. Bardsley, Mrs- Geo. Litchfield, Litch-field, Mrs. Bob Sherwood, Mrs. Ida Steenbock, Mrs. Vena Wilson and the hostess, Mrs. Markham. - Mrs. W. W. Markham entertained at her home Tuesday afternoon in r onor of the twins, Betty and Barbara's Bar-bara's third birthdays. The house was effectively decorated in Hallowe'en Hallow-e'en colors and a dainty luncheon ,-- was served to the twins little friends which were: Audrey Raines, Phyllis Braun, Marie Carlson, Helen Carl-sen, Carl-sen, Charlotte Farmer, Bill Farmer and Jackie Grimshaw. I - ! Mrs. Al Cline entertained with a j bridge party at her home on Fifth ' Avenue Friday, the 22nd. The house was elaborately decorated in Hallow- e'en colors and the same idea was carried throughout the luncheon, j High score was won by Mrs. W. V. Markham, the consolation for men i was won by Clarence Grimshaw and ! ladie's .low score by Miss Mahalie j Sherwood. The invited guests were:, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Fernley, Mr. and; Mrs. Les.
