Show RECEPTION AND MEETING OF THE REPUBLICAN CLUB Tuesday afternoon of this week the I. O- O. F. hall in Milford was fill-' ed to capacity, the occasion being to meet and hear the republican candidates candi-dates for county offices and Mr. Frank Williams, representative nominee. nomi-nee. The meeting opened by singing "America.' Mrs. A. J. Atkin acted as chairman and 1 introduced County Chairman George Jefferson in a very impressive manner, complimenting him for his splendid work during his six years in office. Mr. Jefferson gave a splendid talk, explaining the issues of the campaign in a masterful manner. He was warmly applauded. Mr. Frank D. William's speech won the admiration and good will of everyone present. C. F. Harris spoke for himself and Fred R. Levi, very ably showing how the finances of the county had been administered ad-ministered in such manner that the county is in better shape than it has been for years. Neils Jensens speech was a vote getter, and his hearers are convinced he will be elected sheriff sher-iff of Beaver county. Taylor Farns-worth's Farns-worth's remarks were greeted with rounds of applause. He is candidate for the office of county clerk. The chairman asked, "What's the matter with Geo- B. Skinner for. recorder?" to which the audience responded, "He's all right!" Chairman Jefferson Jeffer-son ably championed the cause of Mrs. Lizzie Neilsen for recorder, assuring as-suring his hearers of her ability to fill the office with credit to herself and satisfaction to all. James H. Rollin's remarks were received with applause. He has made Beaver county coun-ty an efficient assessor, and assured the audience that if re-elected he will devote his best efforts to the duties of the office. Arch Fotheringham was not present, but other speakers assured the voters that he was entirely en-tirely capable of administering the affairs of the office of surveyor. Card Party Thursday evening the club gave a card party at the Atkin Cafe, at which more than eighty ladies, were present. The games resulted in Mrs. Frank Calloway winning first prize. Mrs. Sam Hickman second and Miss Vera McCalister, consolation. Dainty and delicious refreshments were served ser-ved by Mrs. Belle James and Mis? Wanda James- As the coffee was being served Chairman Jefferson in troiluced Mr. John U. Schiess, Beaver Beav-er county's next county attorney. Mr. Schiess was out of town at the time of the previous meeting. He made a short address in which he told, in brief, something of his life's history. He pledged himself to the cause of good government and the advancement advance-ment of Beaver county. His address was well received. |
