Show 'Dunkards Increase On Christinas clay, 1723, two persons were baptized in the icy waters of the river at Germantown, Pa. These wer the first Dunkard converts in America, says the Detroit News. Since then the-communion the-communion has grown to include over 100,000 persons. It was originally a' celibate order whose members ate meat only once a year and held property In common. These strict rules have been abated and' now a Dunkard may even niarry outside out-side the faith and still hold membership member-ship in the church. They hold church property valued at $5,000,000. The states where they are strongest are Tennessee and Texas. |
