Show A LETTER PROM FRANCE Following is a letter received by Geo. S. Jameson of Minersville from his son "over there": August, 30, 1918. Dear Father: Some where in France and ten months in the army, seven of the ten in France! it doesn't seem possible, and yet to think back over my experiences exper-iences since leaving home it seems longer than that. I will be glad when it is over, and we get back. To be frank with you, I don't like army life, but the experience is good for it causes a person to think and ponder pon-der over things that he wouldn't otherwise; oth-erwise; it gives one a deeper and broader phase of life to consider. I have met people of every nationality, of every religion and of every vocation voca-tion of life, all banded together, with one purpose, and that the suppression suppress-ion of the Germanic empire. I have been reading in the Bible and Doctrine Doc-trine and Covenants where God sent wars, scourges and pestilence on the earth to quell the ungodly and to bring them back to the fear of God, and since coming over here I have seen enough to convince me that the world was surely at an awful state. If this war in its awful magnitude doesn't bring the people of the earth on their knees before their God. then I can't imagine what really could, unless a catastrophe like that which happened in the time of Noah, when God destroyed all but the few who entered the ark. The last destruction, destruc-tion, according to the Bible, is to be by fire. I have seen a place or two that we have shelled and there isn't a thing left on the landscape by which an old resident could identify the place. Believe Be-lieve me. it is going to take a long time to recruit after this war is over and peace has settled over the earth. Well, enough of this sermon for this time. I haven't heard from any of you for a long time. I am well and feeling fine. Your son. Chas. i P. S. Art Turner and Arnold Parkinson say to remember them to the people of Minersville. Address Corp.
