Show Mrs. Charlie Smith received a telegram tel-egram last week announcing the safe arrival from overseas of her son, Kent Smith, of the 34Sth field artillery ar-tillery 91st division. He will return to Milford as soon as he is mustered out of service at Camp Funston. Mayor Cottrell returned Sunday night from Los Angeles. He expects to -go back about the 17th of the month after Mrs. Cottrell, whose health seems to be benefited by the California climate. i Olive Johnson was the guest of 'honor at a surprise party given Monday Mon-day afternoon at the home of Miss Lillian Stoker. A very jolly time was reported by those present, who were: June and Druce Carter, Alice Larson, Lillian Stoker. Olive Barbara and Dick Johnson. . The Methodist Aid Society met last Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. R. G. Siewert. Mrs. Joe Trib 'pie was elected president to fll! the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. Frank Robinson. Dainty refreshments re-freshments were served on the close of the afternoon. The next meeting meet-ing will be held May 1st at the home of Mrs. Tribole. Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Burns visited last week at the home of their son Bishop Burns, on their way home from r. visit in Los Angeles. Bishop Burns motored over with them to their home in Salina, Sevier County, Coun-ty, Saturday. Everett Bryans entertained about a dozen of his friends Monday afternoon after-noon from 4 to 6. The young folk spent a merry afternoon in playing games and enjoyed a delicious supper sup-per served by the young host's mother. moth-er. Those present were Helen Ward Selena and Violet Isaacs, Mary Vincent, Vin-cent, Ora Edwards, Gertrude Martin, Howard Tanner, Clark Lee, Tea Wheat, Vance Clinton and Chester 'Gleeson. J. H. Burtner of Riverside, Cal., an old time friend and brother of the editor, was in Milford Monday for the purpose of making final proof on his enlarged homestead at Reed. Mr. Burton has a choice one-half section which he is very proud of. He is an old time Salt Lake agent and Is still connected with that line. At one time the town of Delta was known as Burtner and the post office offi-ce was Burtner for a number of years in the good old days, but owing ow-ing to a confusion of names, between Burton and Burtner. the name was changed to Delta. He is very enthusiastic en-thusiastic over the future prospect of this- valley and is one of the many friends of Milford has in Southern California. |
