Show MUSICAL WAS BIG SUCCESS The Milford High School, under Mr. Wtl T. Morris, director, rendered ren-dered a pleasing musical program Friday evening April 4th. While the performance as a whole was of a superior class both as to selection and execution, some numbers num-bers we give special mention. The introductory, "March of the Maroon," a delightful composition by W1I T. Morris, was charmingly sung by the junior and senior girls, supported by the high school Orchestra. Orches-tra. A violin solo by Alrred Morris was well executed. ' Happy indeed, was the junior girls' chorus in the "Morning Call,,. As Riley says, "How it all comes back to us" when in response to the morn-ling morn-ling call to get up, we hear the growing boy yawn sleepily answer, "Yes'm I'm a coming, and then In sweet oblivian just go on snoring. In response to the encore, the girls gave us one sleep-over-powering yawn, one "Yes'm," and one dead-to-the world snore, and left us to meditate upon, "How I Hate to get up in the Morning." The solos by Miss Delia Cottrell were pleasingly rendered and well received. The orchestra, composed, principally princi-pally of high school students, but assisted by two faculty members, Miss Margetts and Mr. Axton surprised sur-prised and gratified us by giving, in truly artists' style, "Overature from William Tell" and others of the same class. The pantominaic dramatization of the "Last Rose of Summer" by the Junior chorus, was beautiful and im-pressive. im-pressive. The trio, "Spring Time" by the senior girls, was enchantingly sweet. Someone has said, "When a thing is done, we never see the patient doing do-ing of It." Mush credit is due the 'music department of the .school for the work that brought Its students to their present status. Another thing that merits more than casual note, Is the character of the music studied. Almost all the selections rendered are from the older music masters the classics. How Important Is the class of music mu-sic sung! There is no truer index to the moral and the aesthetic tone of a people than its music. A wise man has said, "Let me . write the songs of a nation and I care not who writes Us laws." The music department is to br-congratulated br-congratulated upon the success of this high grade entertainment; the school Is to be congratulated upon its high grade music department. : A |
