Show TRIBUNE WRONG The Salt Lake Tribune, the politics pol-itics of which no man can tell, is hiving the foundation for a chance Jo support the Democratic State ticket. After saying the nicest kind of things about Chas. R. Mabey, the "'.cpublican candidate for Governor, it says that the non-Morman element h as apparently been forgotten and that Salt Lake county has been given giv-en the go-by. Xow we hold no brief for the Mormon Mor-mon church, or any other organization, organiza-tion, but in a state in which a large number of the voters belong to any one organization, it is but right and "atural that a convention of representative repre-sentative men and women should noose a ticket on which would be ram of that organization. We do not know how many on the ticket rre non-Mormon, furthermore we i!o not care. We do know that Reed Smoot is the best man that could be elected to the U. S. Senate; that Chas R. Mabey is as good or better than any nther man mentioned for Governor, ind J. E. Frlck, the best man for the Supreme court, and we don't care what their religion is. As to the geographical distribu-ion distribu-ion of the candidates and the slight the Tribune thinks has been given to Salt Lake City, we do hold a brief .'or the cow counties- and we are voud of the fact. While no attempt was made to Tct more than justice, let us state 'hat this is the first convention in vhich Salt Lake did not get the lions -hare and even in this Salt Lake got " good even break, for let it be known here and now that Reed -.noot is too big to belong to any -r.e county, but to the whole United states that he is as much from .ilt Lake, or Beaver as he is from Provo. He is from the whole state of Utah and belongs to the United States. Of the other candidates, at least four are residents of Salt Lake county coun-ty and two or three others are Salt Lake business men with residences -".'.tside. In addition to this Salt Lake got the candticite Cor congressman in the second district. The candidate for governor lives so close to Salt Lake County, and is held in such opinion op-inion that Salt Lake County cast 67 votes out of her 1SS votes for him rn the last ballot a compliment for which Mr. Mabey may justly feel roud. We cannot see where the justice of the Trlbunes's complaint comes in. |
