Conductor Tom Gleeson has been called to Los Angeles on O. R. C. Committee work. J. L. Low assigned 7 and 8 between be-tween Salt Lake and Milford vs. R. A. Pratt. - H. J. Conway assigned 1 and 2 between Salt Lake and Milford vs. A. L. Haupt. H. G. Crawe assigned Provo switch engine vs. J. F. White. Engines 665, 3601 and the 3607 are in the hospital for general repairs. Brakeman M. H. Monroe will leave for Los Angeles shortly to take a dip in the ocean. Mrs. Geo. A. Trent will leave for Salt Lake next week where she will visit with former Milford friends. Switchman Luedke will go to Salt Lake to become a stinger. We just low he never will do it again when they get through with him, eh boys? W. S. Ernst, former yard clerk of Caliente, has been assigned to the position of seal clerk at Las Vegas. Now hit the ball, kid. Mrs. F. Calloway, wife of Engineer Calloway, has been called to St. Louis account of her sister- not being expected to live. Condr. Green will take a run' out of Milford account shortage of conductors con-ductors who are laying off account illness. Extra Engineers Neuhart, Cuddy and Smith with extra Fireman Evans Cooper and 'Buclgett were on the board this last Thursday. Engineers Waud and Scott are laying lay-ing off. Firemen Hanlon, Herman, Stillwell and Parkinson are laying off. Judging from the large number of Japs headed for Los Angeles and Mexicans headed for Old Mexico who were former employes of the Salt Lake Route, it would indicate that there must be a Mexican holiday. It was reported that all the company com-pany houses -were to be equipped with glass bath tubs and lavatories. It is a sad blow, but true, there will be no improvements made in any of the departments until further notice. no-tice. It appears that retrenchment is to be the by-wprd from now on. Miss Myrtle Hardy has been transferred trans-ferred from Gen'l Storekeeper Root of Milford- to Gen'l Storekeeper Ream at Provo. There will be no one to fillthe vacancy in Milford. Friday, Jan. 18, there will be two mid-winter specials out of Salt Lake for Los Angeles, consisting of solid Pullman trains. Both of the specials spec-ials will be run on No. 19's time. These special trains originated at Butte, Montana. Louie Keen, one of our car toads, figured a long time on his income tax. He arrived at a figure wherein that on a $2000 income it would only cost him two dollars. When he was informed that he was just $18 shy on his figures he threw a fit. It has been officially announced that hereafter store supplies will be issued from the general store-keeper's department at Provo instead of at Milford as heretofore. The Milford Mil-ford store-keeper's department will issue supplies that are required locally lo-cally only. A. W. Neff has been appointed assistant as-sistant superintendent of machinery for the Salt Lake Route. His duties will be mainly on the Salt Lake division di-vision and he will no doubt make his headquarters in Salt Lake or Provo. This appointment was made in order to assist General Master Mechanic Searle. |
