Show INFLUENZA TELEGRAM Denver, Colo., Oct. 7, 1918. Secretary, Milford Chapter Red Cross, Beaver Utah. In accordance ' with instructions irom National headquarters and government gov-ernment health authorities, chapters should lend all aid to overcome influenza in-fluenza epidemic and should do the following things as need may require: re-quire: 1. Organize committee consisting preferably of 'chapter chairman, physician phy-sician member, nursing committee chairman home service section, and additional members as desired, to be known as Chapter committee on influenza. in-fluenza. Similar committees should be formed in branches. These committees com-mittees should be formed immediately, immediate-ly, even though disease is not prevalent, prev-alent, as preparation for possible local lo-cal and other communities' needs. 2. This committee, in consultation with public health officer in its jurisdiction, juris-diction, should make survey of available avail-able Cursing personnel, and available hospital supplies. 3. Report to committee on nursing nurs-ing and to aid division director of nursing names and address of all graduate nurses available for service in epidemic, and distribute blank enrollment en-rollment forms to those not already-enrolled already-enrolled as Red Cross nurses. 4. Report to and furnish upon request re-quest of local health officer, what supplies and nursing personnel chapter chap-ter can furnish at chapter expense for local use. Such expenses are proper charge against chapter share of war fund. 5. Report immediately to division, names and addresses of all graduate nursesso assigned. Compensation of nursing personnel is: graduate nurses, $75.00; undergraduates and aids, from $30 to $50, according to qualifications, also all warranted expense. ex-pense. To summarize, when local needs are greater than can promptly be met by local health authorities, chapters chap-ters may offer aid at own expense as stated above. When combined resources re-sources ol local authorities and Red Cross chapter are Insufficient to meet local needs, local health officer should appeal to State board health. 10. Chapter store of supplies suitable suit-able for emergency hospital use may be used locally during this epidemic at request of local health officer at expense of chapter regardless of their original purpose, provided chapter replaces them for original purpose. 11. Chapters must report dally to Division Headquarters supplies used, also assignment of nursing personnel. 12. Each community shall depend upon its own resources to fullest extent ex-tent to keep all possible supplies of such resources free for use in places where need Is overwhelming when advisable.
