Show STAMP CAMPAIGN GETSG00DSTART Last Monday evening the War Savings Stamp campaign in Milford was formally opened. Rabbi Wm. Rice of Salt Lake was here and made a speech on the corner by the State Bank building. His talk was short but interesting, and what he said should cause those who heard him to thoroughly understand that this is not a campaign of giving, but of lending, at a fair interest, to the government back of which is every individual and piece of property In this United States. Among other things he said was that it remained for President Wilson to give expression ex-pression to the aim of the war. Other countries that were in the war had not really defined the purpose. He said this war is to make the world safe for democracy. We must help all we can it is helping ourselves Just as much as anyone. The actual work of the Milford committee was started this week and they are visiting all the homes and places of business asking for subscriptions to savings stamps. People are expected to sign pledge cards to take a certain amount, which may be paid at once or the stamps bought any time during the remainder of this year. Milford's apportionment is $22,000. which seems quite large, but there are still more than six months in which to buy the stamps. This month they cost $4.17, and one cent is added each month thereafter. These arc due Jan. 1, 1923. when each stamp wilt bring back $5.00. |
