Show SOME RECENT SOCIAL EVENTS IN MILFORD I. O. O. F. Lodge Banquets Some State Officers Catholic Ladies Aid Society Gives Enjoyable Social Evening of 500 The local lodge of the I. O. O. F. had the honor, last Saturday evening, even-ing, of entertaining their Grand Master of the state, F. H. Celeven-tra Celeven-tra and Mrs. Melton of Salt Lake, president of the Rebecca Assembly. Grand Master Celeventra was welcomed wel-comed by a large and enthusiastic aiylience of Odd Fellows and a few affiliating "outsiders," probably one of the largest gatherings of a similar simi-lar nature held in a local fraternal lodge room. A splendid banquet, abounding in all the good things that go to make up such happy functions, was partaken par-taken of by almost four score persons. The banquet hour was devoted to social conversation and fun, and when everybody was feeling good, the Grand Master made an appropriate appro-priate and enlightening address upon up-on the objects and aims of the order, or-der, the good it has accomplished and the high ideals it represents. His remarks were enthusiastically received and warmly applauded. Mrs. Melton also made a brief talk along the lines of the order of :he Rebeccas, fhe ladies' branch of :he I. O. O. F. and was, likewise, iccorded close attention. Catholic Ladies Entertain Another enjoyable evening was that spent Wednesday night by the patrons of the "500 Party" given in I. O. O. F. hall by the Catholic Ladies Aid Society. Many who had expected to be present were detained at home, but as it vas there were over sixty persons per-sons present and engaged in the fascinating fas-cinating game of "500" and, incidentally inci-dentally enjoyed the toothsome and abundant supply of refreshments provided for the occasion. In the "500" contests, Mrs. Berk-heimer Berk-heimer won ladies' first prize and Mrs. Frank Ryan, of Caliente, the consolation prize. For the gentlemen's gentle-men's trophies, Mr. O'Rourke foreclosed fore-closed a mortgage on first place and Arthur Wood annexed the consola tion souvenir. The ladies furnished furnish-ed the prizes for the ladies, and Mr. I. L. Quirk donated the gentlemen's prizes. The ladies cleared over $25 as a result of their enterprise, which proceeds will go toward the building build-ing fund of the Catholic church. The members of the Catholic Aid deserve great credit for their activities activi-ties and untiring efforts toward the worthy aim they have in view. ' There will be a dance tonight, at the high school "gym" immediately following the basket ball game to take place at 7:30. One week from tonight, being Friday, the 1st of December, there will be a dance in the L. D. S. church, and hereafter during the winter there will be a dance every other Friday evening. Wednesday night's dance at the opera house drew the usual large attendance and all participants put in several very pleasant hours. Tomorrow To-morrow evening another dance will be given in the same place. Thanksgiving evening, the 30th, the G. I. A. of B. of L. E. ladies will give a character ball in the Milford Mil-ford opera house, which promises to be some social event. Participants Partici-pants are supposed to be in costume and a large crowd is expected to be present. |
