Show Beaver Brevities It i9 reported that a large mining concern of Pittsburg has taken over the Gondola property near Fortuna, and will commence work there very shortly. Miss Aletha Jackson recently returned re-turned from Denver, where she has been studying music, has now opened a piano btudio, where she will give lessons during the summer. Mrs. Josephine Croft entertained a number of her friends at a theatre party on Monday night, in honor of her first wedding weddug anniversary. Refreshments were served after ihe theatre, at the home of her mother, Mrs. R. A. McKnight. Mrs. Irene Blake who was recently ctdied to Beaver on account of the serious illness of her father, Jos. Jackson, returned to her home in Denver this week. Mr. Jackson, who was in a very serious condition is now able to be around again. Saturday. During Dur-ing their ses-ian taxei were raised on i about five hundred tracts throughout the County. Another session of the Board will be held on June 7th at which time objections to any increase in valuation will be heard by them. Mrs. Vaughn nee Mrs. Arthur Gentry of this city, is visiting with relatives this week. Mrs. Mary Briggs opened a new motion picture house on Main Street this week. She has secured a splendid line 'f films from the Mutual Company, Com-pany, and promises to give her patrons the very best in the movie line. Mrs. Briggs is building a new play house on Eighth Street, which, when completed promises to be one of the most up-to-date picture play houses in the State. A splendid Memorial Day Program was given at the Beaver Cemetery, under the auspices of the Ladies Home Economics Club. Prof. Reinbard Maeser delivered the oration of the day and a tribute to the American Soldier was given by Miss Irene Tolton. Appropriate music for the occasion was rendered by the Beaver Stake ?hoir, Prof. G. W. Woodhouse and Howard Webb. Governor Wm. Spry, Attorney General Gen-eral Barnes and Associate Justice Frick of the Supreme Court were Beaver visitors c n Wednesday. They have been down in the Southern part ! of the State looking over a proposed I route for a railroad between Lund and St. George. They were accompanied by Jos. Manderfield and T. C. Peek of of the Salt Lake Route, Senator Thos. Kearns and several others. An informal in-formal reception was given them by the citizens on the Tabernacle square in the afternoon. |
