Show BAD ACCIDENT RIVERBRIBGE Last Friday morning while on the return trip from Beaver, where they had been to a dance, a car driven by D. P. VanFleet. ran into the north wing of the bridge just south of town, seriously injuring Mrs. Sloan. Miss Sims and Mrs. Van Fleet. It appears that Mr. Van Fleet who had taken to the side of the road to avoid the rough places in the center, did not see the bridge until within a few feet of it. and in attempting to avoid a collision, he turned the car sharply to the left which caused the feloe of the rieht rear wheel to break from the spokes and roll out to the right of the road, where it was picked up later;. The .car struck the wing of the .bridge sideways, and righted itself along the right side of the roadway in the center of the bridge. The ladies were either thrown out or jumped from the car. Miss Sims had several teeth knocked out and a bad cut on the lip. Mrs. Sloan received re-ceived bad bruises and cuts on the face, and Mrs. Van Fleet was badly hurt about the back. Mr. Van Fleet was not thrown from his seat, being held there by the steering wheel. A car driven by Harry Larson arrived ar-rived on the scene of the accident in about five minutes and assisted by. Mr. Wm. DeWolf. who was in the wrecked car, but escaped uninjured, and Mr. Heidenreich. put the injured in his car and hurried them to Dr. Hunter's office, where they were made as comfortable as possible and then taken to their rooms where they are resting as comfortably as could be expected. |
