Show REDFIELD TO QUIT CABINET. President Accepts Resignation to Take Effect November 1. Washington. William C. Bedlield, of Brooklyn. N. Y., secretary of commerce com-merce in President Wilson's cabinet since the beginning of 1he Democratic administration in iltHM, has resigned announcing that he was returning to private business. President Wilson has accepted the resignation, io lie effective November 1. There was no official hint given with the announcement as to who would be chosen to take the port folio. Mr. Hcdfiehl denied that his resignation resig-nation was the result of friction between be-tween himself and other administration officials. "My resignation," he said, "is not the result of any quarrel, disagreement, disagree-ment, chagrin or any oilier unpleasant occurrence, but is caused solely and eutirely by my desire to return to business busi-ness and give my attention once more io my personal affairs, which for more than eight years have been subordinated subordi-nated to the public interests." Mr. Itedhold is the sixtli man to leave the cabinet during tlie six years of President Wilson's administration. |
