Show ANOTHER GOOD MOVE IN President Wilson's message to Congress, Con-gress, there appears a paragraph that serves as a basis for the hope that the administration will get actively be- j hind the general leasing bill which will open the resources of the West to de- j velopment. He says that the time has now come when the wealth contained in the remaining portions of the public domain should be relieved of the re- . strictions imposed by a policy that has ! kept that wealth out of use. The strange anomaly has been witnessed of a public of producers and consumers preventing, through its government, the production and, consequently, the consumption of much needed material of a mineral nature. The want of that material has continued to exist, but it has taken our participation in the war to bring the fact out sharply. A reasonable inference derivable ; from his message indicates that the President has decided that the oil, phosphates, phos-phates, water powers, etc., that have been held out of use will be of more advantage ad-vantage to our "children's children" darlings of the extreme conservationists conservation-ists if made to play their part in the effort to make democracy safe from Germanism, than if inviolate and handed hand-ed over to them intact, a couple, of generations gen-erations hence.
