Show HOME-SCHOOL RECEPTION The reception given at the High School last Friday night by the Home and School organization was a success from every point of view. A splendid crowd was in attendance in spite of the stormy weather, and a -feeling of informality and goodfel-lowship goodfel-lowship prevailed throughout, i The evening's activities were start ed off with a short spicy program. A speech of welcome was made by Mr. Woodbury, president of the organization, organ-ization, followed by a response by Mr. Bates, principal of the High School. Readings by Miss Russell of the High School and Miss Arditb Johnson were very well rendered and much appreciated. A vocal solo by Miss Worley and piano selection given by Mrs. Woodbury added very much to the value of the program. Community singing led by the girls' chorus of the High School was the next feature, after which a general Informal handshake was called for, anrl hugely enjoyed by everyone and was especially valuable because of the good feeling it stimulated. Funmaking games were next introduced in-troduced by Jim Tanner and Ted Bird, and they surely filled their mis sion with credit. Men's relay races, ladies' nail driving contests etc. were the cause of unlimited mirth. Dancing was the next in order, and while the dance went on a splen did luncheon, served under the direction di-rection of Mrs. Benson and the domestic do-mestic science girls, was freely partaken par-taken of by three or four hundred people. The materials for this lunch were generously supplied by the townspeople. Such entertainments are like valuable val-uable for the town and schools. Let us have more of them. The Home and School organization and especially especi-ally the entertainment committee is to be congratulated for the success of this occasion. |
