Show "DUTC H TREAT" FOR THE NAZIS Hollanders have a .sense of humor. But it's not appreciated appre-ciated by the Nazis. That's just the point. That's why Holland Hol-land el's, unarmed and undefended, still have a weapon. And they use it! With mischievous twinkles lurking- in wide, innocent eyes, they tuck empty paper has into their pockets as they p; to the movies. In the middle of the picture, the bag- is stealthily removed, inflated and burst with the explosion of a gun-shot. .Wri officers, already jittery over mysterious shooting" of hh'h officials and Dutch Nazis, spring from their seats in alanr. That's the best part of the show for the Dutch patriots, but the Germans fail to appreciate the humor. Special patrolmen have been assigned to the theatres now to put a stop to the fun. But the people of the Netherlands are undisturbed. There are other ways to annoy a Nazi, they've found. One is to sit next to a uniformed German in the theatre and pass in front of him ?s often as possible. Another is to leave the theatre whenever prominent Germans or Dutch Nazis are shown on the screen. The Nazis crtfldn't take this, either. They have issued an order prohibiting anyone to leave the theatre during the showing of the newsreel. Poor master race! It is easier sometimes to stand up to bullets and bombs than such ridicule and scorn. The Hollanders, Hol-landers, indeed, have a weapon. Christian Science Monitor. |
