I Mrs. Jim Angell (nee Josephine Holt) returned to Milford Wednesday Wed-nesday after spending a week in Salt Lake City with her husband, who is working out of there. J. C. Smith and J. M. Hughes! made a business trip to Salt Lake City last Thursday and Friday, j They also visited a few hours in; Logan with their children, Mrs. Berlyn Osborne, and Doris and, Stanley Hughes. j iMrs. Bob Tomsik entertained I her sewing club last Thursday! evening. Those present were Mrs. Harold Baxter, Mrs. Walt McOilkv, Mrs. Stanley Voorhees, Mrs. Grant Murdock, Mrs. David Reece, Mrs. Jim Brannen, Mrs. Max Baxter, Mrs. Theone Stone-bocker, Stone-bocker, Mrs. Max Gillins, MrsJ Willis Whitbeck, Mrs. Bud Hand-, ley and Mrs. Wallace Morris. Dan Ferguson, who has been employed by the Union Pacific at Yermo.s California, is spending the week-end with his family in Milford. Mr. Ferguson is now stationed at Caliente.. The Women's Literary club met at the home of Mrs. Frank Gos-pill Gos-pill last Thursday evening. Those present were Mrs. J. C. Smith, Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. D. A. Baxter,, Mrs. M. H. Pool, Mrs. W. H. Hendrickson and Miss Gladys Gospill. , Mrs. Loran Bishop entertained the Saturday Afternoon Bridge club and guests May 10 with Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr., Mrs. Ross Palm-' er and Mrs. Bishop winning the prizes. Others present were Mrs. William Cochrane, Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen, Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. Sam Cline and Mrs. J. H. Weston. Lucile Smith entertained at a party Thursday afternoon of last week in celebration of her eleventh elev-enth brthday. The following young girls helped to make the affair a success: Lola Waddoups, Shirleen Gillins, Barbara Stoker, Nadine White, Madelyn Kohler, Edriss Hewitt, Leah Smith, Mary LaMar Outzen and Joan Smith. Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Clay and daughters, Carolyn and Corinno, visited in Fillmore over the weekend week-end with Mrs. Clay's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Carling, and other relatives. The regular meeting of the Pierian club was held Monday night at the home of Mrs. Roy White sr. Several very interesting interest-ing articles from Collier's magazine maga-zine were read and discussed by members. Those present were Mrs. Vena H. Wilson, Mrs. Elva Sedgwick Mrs. Ed Bardsley, Mrs. O. C. Koch and Mrs. Katherine Bradfield. Mr. and Mrs. David S. Williams spent Mother's day in Kanab, making a roundabout trip to that enterprising little community by way of Connor's pass, Pioche. Caliente, Panaca, Modena, Enterprise Enter-prise and St- George. The roughest rough-est road found on the trip was that part of highway 21 between the Utah line and the oiled section in Sacramento pass. ! lElmer Rice, switch foreman, suffered a double fracture of his right ankle Tuesday .morning when an engine pilot he was riding gave way at the highway ( crossing, the footboard! folding under and catching his foot, dragging it for some 40 feet. He has been taken to Salt Lake City for further treatment following preliminary, attention by D. R. R. Shannon in the local hospital. Gordon Murdock, son of Mr. an'd Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr., who volunteered for army service several months ago and had attained at-tained the rank of corporal in a partly mechanized cavalry unit, visited in Milford Saturday and Sunday. He was on his way to Salt Lake City, where he will be stationed for the time being following fol-lowing compliance with his request re-quest for transfer to the air service. ser-vice. A number of women friends of Mrs. D. A. Baxter gathered at her home last Friday afternoon, the occasion being Mrs. Baxter's birthday. A very enjoyable time was spent in sewing and chatting. Those present were Mrs. Fred Jefferson, Mrs. Ed Bardsley, Mrs. L. G. Clay, Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. D. S. Williams, Mrs. William Nichols, Mrs. W. H. Hendrickson, Mrs. M. H. Pool and Mrs. Ross Baxter.. The Wednesday Night Bridge club met May 7 at the home of Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr. After dainty refreshments were served bridge was enjoyed by Mrs. J. H. Weston,, Mrs. Myron Lewis, Mrs. Gene Kirk, Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. D. S. Williams, Mrs. E. L. Smith and Mrs. George Moore. High points prize vwas won by Mrs. Weston and high honors by Mrs. Moore while Mrs. Murdock received the consolation prize. The American Ltgion Auxiliary was enU-rtained last Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Myron My-ron Lewis, assisted by Mrs. J. H. Weston. Bridge was played with Mrs. Lois Waddingham receiving the high points prize, Mrs. Magda-lina Magda-lina White the high honors prize and Mrs. Ethel Nielsen the consolation conso-lation prize. Others present were Mrs. Jennie Howen, Mrs. Letha Smyth, Mrs. Nina Bingham, Mrs. Dolly Bishop, Mrs. Ethel Smith and Mrs. Naomi Hughes, i Mrs. Kenneth A. Smith gave a party May 8th for her daughter, Nancy Lee, on her first birthday. Six little guests helped her cole brate. They were Ralldon Bau-dino Bau-dino and mother, Eddie and Shirley Shir-ley Tomsik and mother, Larry Fitch and mother, Dorothy John, son and Mrs. Jamen Mafitros, and Shanna June Thompsm and mother. mo-ther.
