' Fifteen yeas ago this week i The News of fifteen years ago had a very special eighteen page; Christmas edition. The L. D. S. Sunday school had organized for the coming year with officers as follows. Superintendent, Super-intendent, H. H. Pithchforth; first assistant, W. A. Miller; second sec-ond asistant, Ezra Lucas; secretary, secre-tary, Miss Lillian Tanner; librarian, librar-ian, Merle Pitchforth; treasurer, Marshal Levi; assistant secretary, Margaret Levi; organist, Winnie Fernley, and chorister, Professor Christensen. Mrs. E. H. Bird had entertained at her home in honor of the ladies of the L. D. S. church choir. A bundle shower had been given at the home of Mrs. R. P. McKeon in honor of Mrs. Robert Sherwood. Those present had been Mesdames Robert Sherwood, J. Sherwood, H. Korns, Gene Kirk, Lydia Cooper, Reisner, F. Jefferson, Lulu Germo, William Cline, Roy Coleman, Roy White, Roy Cottrell, R. D. Zook, James Glenn, A. P. Mc!Keon and Miss Hortense Hardy. The L. D. S. church had been undergoing extensive (repairs. A new rostrum and a choir loft had been built. A daughter had been born to Mr. and Mrs. George W. Ranaon, on December 9. The thermometer had dropped to 10 below zero on Monday, December De-cember 13, 1920, making a busy day for the plumbers. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Duncan had given a dinner in honor of the bishopric and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Jorgensen, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Arrington and Mrs. Dorothy Hickman. Dr. Hunter, president of the Red Cros of Milford, had reported that 186 members had been enrolled en-rolled throught the efforts of eight young girls. He and Mrs. Hunter had entertained at their home in honor of the girls who were Ora Edwards, Arvilla Muir, Ireta Atkins, Maxine Bardsley, Marion Neff, Alice Frizzell, Mary Bonner and Mary Vincent. The high school orchestra was planning on giving some matinee dances. The orchestra included Marcel Rogers, Jack Turley, De-los De-los Tanner, first violins; Mercy Sam Hickman, Gaylord Martin, Orwin, Winnie Fernley, piano; clarinets; La Von Bird, trombone; Delroy White, Lillian Tanner, cornet; cor-net; Lillian Stoker, saxaphone; Margaret Levi, mellophone, and Owen Tanner, drams. Mrs. J. H. Weston had been hostess at her home for her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Stan Fotheringham, who : haj been given a bundle shower by about twenty of her friends. Mr. and Mrs. James Lang of Beaver had moved into the McDonald Mc-Donald apartments here. Mrs. George Rogers had been visiting with relatives and friends in Parowan. The Sudnay school of the L. D. S. church had reorganized with H. H. Pitchforth as superintendent superin-tendent and William Miller and Elza Lucas as counselors. The Rebekah lodge had given a bundle shower at the home of Mrs. A. P. McKeon, in honor of Mrs. Robert Sherwood. |
