Show Mrs. Chester Peterson (nee Dolly Dol-ly Jefferson) and little son Neil returned Tuesday to their home in Nevada City, California after u two weeks visit in Milford. Mr. Peterson drove here Sunday to get them. Miss Ixis Altman, who is employed em-ployed in Denver, Colorado, arrived arriv-ed in Milford Sunday for a two weeks vacation visit with her her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. Alt-man. Alt-man. While here she will attend thu graduation exercises of her sister Shirlee. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Firmage returned re-turned home Sunday afternoon, after spending several days in FOs Angeles and other southern California places. While there they uttended a convention for independent in-dependent picture show owners at the Warner Brothers studios. Ted Weber, fleet-footed South Milford sophomore attending the local high school, was about the "whole cheese," so far as Milford was concerned, at the state high school field and track meet in Salt like City last Saturday. Young Weber came in second in the mile run. Honoring Mrs. R. C. Adams of, Los Angeles, formerly of Milford, Mrs. R. R. Shannon entertained Tuesday afternoon with a tea at her home. Bridge was enjoyed with Mrs. William Morris winning th-- high score prize. Others present pre-sent were Mrs. D. E. Kirk and the gi:c: l of honor. M A 10V4 pound baby girl was burn to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth A. Smith last Wednesday, May 8. The baby has been named Nancy Lee. Mother and babe are doing nicely. Mrs. Beatrice McKay of Richfield, Rich-field, Idaho is visiting at the home of her son Fred. Mrs. Fred McKay Mc-Kay went to Salt Lake where she met her mother-in-law, returning to Milford Sunday. The Milford fifth and sixth I grades baseball team Friday of last week won by a score of 29 to 12 a game with the Minersville grades. The game was played at Milford. A previous game between the teams, played at Minersville May 3, was won by the Minersville Miners-ville team, 29-24. That the Milford town board "means business" in its effort to clean up delinquent water rates was emphasized the first part of the week when the water supervisor super-visor proceeded to carry out orders to cut off water. Needless to say, the town office was a very busy place about the time the water supervisor started to make his rounds. The Ladies Literary club met at the home of Mrs. Emma Smith on May 9th. After delicious refreshments re-freshments were served by the hostess, Mrs. Waivie Peterson reviewed re-viewed Lloyd C. Douglas' latest book, "Doctor Hudson's Secret Journal". Other members present were Mrs. Jennie Gospill, Mrs. Lucy Hendrickson, Mrs. Ruth Williams Wil-liams and Miss Gladys Gospill. The G. I. A. Bridge club met Wednesday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. W. G. White, luncheon being served at 8 o'clock. Prizes were won by Mrs. Wanda Holm, Mrs. Flora Cuddy and Mrs. May Husband. Others present were Mrs. Marvel Connell, Mrs. Grace Sutton, Mrs. Grace Dear-man, Dear-man, Mrs. Mary White, Mrs. Betty Bet-ty Dawson, and Mrs. Florence Barnes. Mrs. 0. A. Steenbock entertained entertain-ed the Bridgediers and guests Friday Fri-day evening with a mothers' and daughters' dinner party, Mrs. Wanda Holm being the guest of honor in remembrance of her birthday. She received many lovely love-ly handkerchiefs and birthday greetings from all. Following the dinner each mother was presented with a white carnation and each daughter with a red one, after whieh contract bridge was played. Mrs. Wanda Holm received high points prize, Mrs. Frances Jefferson Jeffer-son the high honors prize, Mrs. Lena Morris the consolation prize, Mrs. Belle James, guest prize, and Mrs. LaVera Meeker the house prize. Out of town guests were Mrs. Chester Peterson of Nevada City, California and Mrs. R. C. Adams of Los Angeles. Others present were Mrs. Antone Johnson, John-son, Mrs. LaMar Outzen, Mrs. FVank Osborn, Mrs. Sam Cline, Mrs. Marvel Connell, Mrs. Kath-erine Kath-erine Shingleton, Mrs. Blanch Gronning, Mrs. Lettie Fothering-ham, Fothering-ham, Mrs. Tannis Strofeld and the hostess. |
