With more than (iO horses already al-ready signed up for Milford's Spring Race Meet, June 21-22-23, and more being added every day, Chairman D. E. Kirk and the members of the committee having the meet in charge feel that it will be one of the most successful events of its kind ever held in southern sou-thern Utah. The response is even more gratifying than they had dared hope for and they are firmly firm-ly convinced that it will grow as time goes on to become an outstanding out-standing race meet for the inter-nu.untain inter-nu.untain country. Among the latest strings of race horses to be listed are two from Agua Caliente, Mexico, owned own-ed by Anna Lee Wiley, with three others from the same place, but under different ownership , also coming. Other out-of-state horses signed up include six owned by J. E. Stevens of W.aiteburg, Wlashijg-ton Wlashijg-ton and a similar number owned by Bert Baze of the same place; three horses owned by Norman Taylor of Reno, Nevada and three coming from Ely. Cleve Carder of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who had a string here last fall for Mil-ford's Mil-ford's first county fair and race meet, is coming again with at least four in his string and he reports that other New Mexico stables are intensely interested in the local meet. Utah state horses include two owned by Lloyd Simonds of Trenton, Tren-ton, three owned by Gerald Mat-ley Mat-ley of Salt Lake City, three owned by Jack Barton of Beaver, three owned by William Manhard of Fillmore, six owned by Merrill Thornton of Parowan, one owned by J. B. McNabb and eight owned by . Dr. L. D. Stewart and Art Peterson of Payson, two owned by J. Low Barton of Paragonah, two owned by William Pace of Delta, two owned by Doug Clark of Cedar City. With the race meet pretty well taking care of itself and many of these horses due to arrive in the near future to begin training on the local track, committee members mem-bers are turning more of their attention at-tention to other details, including the lining up of talent for the big night show performances which are scheduled for each of the three nights.
