Show THE GOLDEN RULE There is nothing left but the golden rule, sadly remarked remark-ed the editor of a California paier, commenting on the European crises. Nothing left but the golden rule? What more does he want? If the world got down or up to the golden rule years ago, it would not be in the mess it is. When we really do get down to tha golden rule, we will be on bedrock. Then we can begin to build for prosperity prosper-ity and enduring peace. It will be the end of aggression, of conquest, of the doctrine that might even can make right. The smallest nation then will be certain of security. If somebody could only lay the golden rule down upon some of the fire-eaters of Europe, they would shrink to normal nor-mal size, and thereby become invisible. Measured by it, dictatorship becomes nonexistent. When the world reaches the place when it does to others as it would have others do to it, it can scrap its guns, fire off all its powder on national holidays, and turn its cannons over to nesting doves. Nothing left but the golden rule? Then everything is left. Los Angeles Times. n |
