Show BLACK ROCK The following appeared in the Salt l ake Tribune of July 30 and will be of interest to Milford people as two of Merrill's brothers attended the Milford high school and his sister, Sue Nay, is a graduate grad-uate of the school. "Defying flaming flam-ing oil and heavy seas, the crew of a navy 'bombing plane landed in the Atlantic recently to rescue' two officers and three enlisted men from a plane which, had crashed in flames. Lieutenant (j.g.) Harold G. Olson, Bloom-field, Bloom-field, N. J. piloted the rescue bomber landing in the rough blazing blaz-ing sea. Two members of his crew, Merrill G. Nay of Antimony Utah and Charles F. Waters, Dorchester, Dor-chester, Mass., the navy said, dived into the 'water to rescue survivors of the crashed plane. They were awarded the navy and marine corps medal." The Nay family lived at Black Rock for 11 years but a few years ago moved to Antimony, where they have since resided. Mr., and Mrs. Shirl Nay, parents of Merril, accompanied accom-panied by their son Arden and his family, were' recent week-end guests here at the home of Mrs. . Walter James. Mr. and Mrs. Daie'V. Bradley have returned after making a . short business trip to Elsinore and Salt Lake City. Val Styler and son Arlan of Oasis spent a day here, trucking some of their cattle home. . Mrs. W. . N. McMillen recently I gave birth, to a baby daughter,! Helen Elise.-'- Mother and baby are! now released -from the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City; Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Commander W. -N. McMillen McMil-len came by plane from Alameda, California and spent five days in the city . to ' welcome his little S daughter. Needless to say, Mrs. j Walter James is rejoicing over the j arrival of her .third grandchild, j Mrs. Merrill Miller of Bountiful, accompanied by her son Walter ' and small niece, Sophia Ann Mc- Millen, spent several days here with Mr. Miller. j The Yardley brothers of Pine ! Creek spent Sunday here, baling hay at the James ranch. ! |
